The Aeron wobbles -- a fatal flaw
by John Mulvihill on Nov 9th, 2007 at 12:42 PM:
I'm taking the trouble to post this because I want to warn prospective Aeron buyers that the chair definitely wobbles after a few weeks of usage. I'm not big (5'10", 175 lb.) but at only 4.5" height, the chair wobbles noticeably every time you move. Apparently the manufacturer says this is "normal." Had I known of this defect before, I would have spent all that money on a different chair from a different manufacturer.
More of a Status Symbol Than a Good Ergo Chair
by Joe Z. on Nov 9th, 2007 at 12:25 PM:
These chairs are the standard where I work. Any of the size models are available and will be adjusted for the user.
These chairs have ergonomic problems that are not being addressed.
First the seat bottom stretches after time leaving your tailbone to slightly touch the mechanism underneath. This caused me to subconsciously arch my lower back and caused my sciatic nerve to spasm putting me in the hospital.
Orthopedists said get a good ergo chair with a cushioned bottom.
Also, as written before the front edge of the chair is hard and cuts off circulation to one's legs causing them to swell.
Herman Miller spends a lot of money to PR these chairs.
They put them in movies that show a powerful or successful person using them.
I think they are much more hype than good.
Good back support - but it wobbles
by al on Jan 13th, 2007 at 7:10 PM:
After ages considering one I was pleased that it seems to help my lower back - the lumbar support is good. I had tested this chair at a few clients and it does line your spine up properly.
Build quality is okay, but it wobbles as one reviewer says. This is cheap - there is no way it should wobble about. It has about 1/2 inch of free play at all height settings - so you sit there and if you move it feels odd sometimes. This is due to poor height adjusting piston design.
Best Ever

This is the best chair I have ever sat in. If you think about all the time you spend sitting in a chair behind your desk, this is as important as buying a good bed. I would reccomend this chair to anyone and everyone!

Avoid "Home Office Solutions"
by Andrew on Dec 10th, 2007 at 12:34 PM:
Whatever you do, find a place to try out the chairs first! We bought a pair of Aerons from Home Office Solutions and they surreptitiously charged us $150 to return them. I disagreed with this charge but their supposedly "satisfaction guaranteed" service manager argued with me and said he will go out of business, that 'intelligent' people will check their returns page (nicely hidden) ect... However, I phoned in my orders and this was never disclosed to me, wasn't in any of my email communication or on my receipts. Only when I called to return the Aerons did they casually mention this fee. Their website touts the 100% free shipping, 100% refundable if not satisfied but watch out for those shady junk fees! They were also verrrry slow to issue the refund. 2 weeks went by after the chairs were returned and I had to call the service department who said they were "backlogged". Avoid doing business with HomeOfficeSolutions.com or any of their 3 online businesses (yep they are all one company): OfficeDesigns.com or UltimateBackstore.com
