Don't Waste Your Money

by Norman Sanders on Sep 5th, 2008 at 10:11 AM:

User Score: 2.png If you like to control your environment and validate that you have backups, better to buy two separate drives and use a third party synch program. With this system, you have to just make a leap of faith that what you have on the second half of your system is really there - I've found no way to actually check the contents of the mirror drive. You can in any case do this with this drive if you turn off the RAID function, but then you have two drives on a single power source. I'm sorry I bought this (and I own 5 other WD drives totalling about 1.3TB).

Comparison to Studio II

by Simon on Jul 11th, 2008 at 11:04 AM:

User Score: 8.png You state that the alternative "Studio Edition II" model does not have RAID-1 capabilities, but that is incorrect: the Studio Edition II comes configured as RAID-0 (striped) but can be reconfigured to be RAID-1 through the software. So for Mac users, the Studio Edition II is a much better bet.

Not what it should be

by Jim B. on Jul 9th, 2008 at 8:57 AM:

User Score: 6.png I love the price, but it has issues.

The case is really cheap feeling, the light on the front is way too bright. I can't believe it only has a USB connection, with 2GB of storage, it needs eSATA or something faster.
