Samsung Glyde Sux

User Score: 2.png So I have had this phone for about a year. I got it for my birthday and thought that it would be great. It was for about 1 and 1/2 months. Then Verizon recalled it but did not tell me and I was having major problems as it was with it. So I missed the recall. Over the last 3 months I have had it replaced 3 times and serviced 4 times. I HATE IT!!!! Today I finally got Verizon to get me and NV Touch! Thank God.

Gipped

User Score: 2.png I was excited about this phone for a minute. I bought my Glyde four months ago (May 09) and it worked fine long enough for the thirty day return warranty to expire. Since that time, I've had nothing but problems. 1) key a message; click send and slide it closed, the phone turns off, completely off and must be turned back on. 2) touch screen often freezes; the phone has to be turned off and then on. 3) having an micro sd card is useless. I can add music, sounds, and pics and they won't show up on the card after it's inserted back into the phone. 4) battery life is minimal. 5) contacts disappear. 6) cannot transfer files from phone to pc or pc to phone. In short, if you're looking for a good phone that is reliable even for basic use, this is not the phone. I wouldn't recommend it. AND, the best yet, when taken to Verizon, I was told they could replace it with another three times in a 90 day period (one a month--$20.00 each replacement for transferring contacts and shipping, that's $60.00 total) before honoring a totally different phone. This phone rates less than a 1 (one) but there is no option for zero.

Frustrated

User Score: 2.png At first, I loved this phone, and the touch screen was working great. But after a month and a half it started to get on my last nerves. When I wanted to send a text message and try to hit send, it just hits back, and when it finally does work, it just randomly restarts. I've hung up on my parents a couple of times cause I cant hit the answer button, and it also randomly calls people. Yhis has been the worst phone ever, and at times I want to just throw it against the wall. I have to wait freakin 2 years til I can get a new one, so hopefully I dont kill myself before then.

User Score: 4.png I love the idea of the glyde, the easy texting the touch screen blahblahblah but the touchscreen doesnt always work (and it sometimes makes e want to throw it out of my window) and sometimes when I am texting and i send the message and close the phone the phone will restart and not send the message another time when I have to put it down so i do not smash it or throw it out the window.

Beyond frustrated with my Samsung Glyde

User Score: 2.png This phone leaves a lot to be desired. I got my first Glyde in August of 2008 and by September I was having the classic issues with it (freezing and having to pop the battery off to shutdown, pressing one area of the screen only for another to respond). I then got my second phone followed shortly after by an software upgrade. My new phone worked no better than the last. I subsequently received two more software upgrades, one in late December which would make my Glyde "like a completely different phone" (it didn't) and the most recent because "the last one didn't reach all phones." Well guess what...none of them reached my phone. Now in addition to the issues I mentioned before the phone wasn't unlocking when I was trying to answer a call; the cursor was moving all over the screen when typing with the QWERTY keypad so my messages were jumbled; areas would remain highlighted indefinitely so my phone (without being touched) would go through multiple commands and go from "bright screen" to "dim screen" to off and back again; to not letting me select anything.

Each time I went into Verizon the techs treated me like an idiot who didn't know how to properly touch her phone's screen and give me a tutorial. I would explain to them that I indeed know how to touch the screen because I managed to do it before my phone showed its true colors. Most recently they added "you're using too much memory" as the reason to my phone's malfunctioning. Thinking they might be right I bought a memory card and deleted all text messages...and guess what my phone was still not working correctly.

On my last visit to Verizon (today) they tried to send me away by saying that since it wasn't malfunctioning for them at the present time that there wasn't anything they could do. I would not have it, this phone is making me crazy so I demanded to speak with the manager. He began to offer me another phone...after talking he said I would have to pay for it in full. Hell no! I'm not buying a new phone because the Glyde sucks. Then he made it seem like it was my problem stating "we sell at least 12 Glydes a day and no one else has problems like yours." I then asked "why all the software updates?" He stated they do them for phones just like they do for Windows operating system, for maintenance, not because there is anything wrong. Unfortunately, the last tech told me the updates were because the phones were having glitches that they were trying to correct. When I said this the manager looked back to his computer and said nothing. I did not appreciate being lied to and told him that I wasn't leaving until they did something. He offered me another Glyde, and I took it because I was tired of dealing with him. All in all, this is the worst phone I've ever had and I don't appreciate being treated like an idiot who is the only one having an issue with the Glyde.

(I'm selecting one star because I'm forced to have at least one...this phone is far from star worthy.)
