Kinda grainy, even in bright daylight.

User Score: 6.png I recently purchased this as a refurb unit. It came with everything that the original retail unit is packed with.

I swear, the first thing I thought when I touched the camera was, "Aiptek". It just feels that cheap and flimsy.

Although the camera has a fairly strong feature set, at least as far as tweak-able settings go, the overall video quality isn't that great. It's grainy, even in bright daylight. Artifacts and smearing are apparent, even when viewing on your PC.

I have a JVC DVL-9500, which is ancient, and it has the same pixel resolution in its sensor as this camera. There is no comparison in quality.

Comparing the GZ-MS100 to a Samsung MX-10, which has similar capabilities, the Samsung wins hands-down for color saturation and overall quality. (The Samsung models use higher bit rates, which may be part of the explanation).

Overall, the camera is nice to have as a fall-back for quick shooting that doesn't require good quality. Kids don't care. They'll love it.

Glad I didn't pay close to full retail for it.

Big problem to transfer movies to any other film edditng program.

User Score: 6.png Windows does not recognize the files, to make a DVD. Roxio if you do not have there newest vertion it does not recognize files. There Cyberlink movie maker to DVD gives you no edding fuctions to alter movie. You can delete clips you do not want to record, but that is about all. If I had know this before I bought the camera I would not have bought it.

Great camcorder for everyday videos

User Score: 8.png I bought this camcorder at an IT-Show in Singapore. I wanted something that's cheap and not so complicated. I took this camcorder as a start and I used it with ease. I am not expecting so much from this camcorder, but it does give me the result that I need (at the moment). I would recommend the product if you are just looking for a camcorder that you need for just capturing the moment without the need of high definition.

This camcorder features suck!

User Score: 2.png I just bought this Camcorder today. I filmed something to try the one touch You-Tube Upload and it doesn't even work. This camcorder records only in (.mod) and trying to get it to convert is really hard and difficult to figure out. I'm returning it tomorrow.

Disappointed

by SA on Feb 16th, 2009 at 9:01 AM:

User Score: 2.png Well, taping a video is not too bad, but taking snapshots??? Why did they bother?? The pictures are so low in pixels that any attempt at blowing them up just destroys the pictures. All pictures are taken at 72 pixels which is great for the internet, but FORGET about trying to print off any images at the store because you'll just be WASTING your money. I'm a little disappointed really.
