Made for Macs!!!

yea if you're using vista use some ordinary brand like Seagate, WD, or Maxtor...but if you're a Mac person and want a similar harddrive to your quality computer, the Lacie drives are the way to go. This d2 quadra is a tank, built well, feels like it's actually made well...not some kinda plastic. It's also very quiet.

Great Time Machine Drive

Got the 500MB version to use as a Mac Time Machine drive. Installation was simple and quick. Mine is connected via Firewire 800 and is extremely quick and quiet. So far overall this has been an excellent experience.

Works great!

I have used this drive with no problems on Windows XP and Vista. Setup was easy and perform bac-ups to this drive weekly with no problems. Have heard people say that their hard drives are not recognized on Vista through USB. That is a Vista OS problem not identifying the drivers and not a LaCie hard drive problem. Great product!!

That's what you get for using vista!

Drive works extremely well. Well designed and very quiet. No problems running it on OS 10.4 or 10.5 switching between iMac's, MacBooks and MacBook Pro's.

Poor documentation. Firewire not working

by Jack Casper on Apr 6th, 2008 at 10:01 PM:

There is no documentation for using the drive with vista. I later learned through tech support that it's a "plug and play" drive with vista. Nevertheless, it will not work with vista and a firewire interface - only with a USB. Maybe I got a bad drive, but the whole LaCie experience is less than desirable. I'm going back to Seagate and Maxtor.
