Same issues with Linkstation Pro Duo 2T version

by Jim on Dec 29th, 2008 at 10:50 PM:

User Score: 4.png I recently purchased a similar product from Buffalo. The Linkstation Pro Duo 2T. I also experianced installation issues and buggy software. The linkstations DHCP processing wouldn't configure itself for my network and therefore the software wouldn't install. I had to plug a laptop directly into the ethernet cable and hard configure the IP address on the laptop to match the linkstation. The default buffalo uses is 192.168.11.151 for its device. I was then able to bring up the web based configuration screens from the laptop. Once in I had to turn off DHCP on the linkstation and hard configure an IP address that was comptible with my home network. Bottom line is the installation software from buffalo is just bad.

Worst Drive I bought in Years

by Tony on Nov 4th, 2008 at 10:29 AM:

User Score: 2.png Had the drive for 33 days before it died. Buffalo Tech support had me update the Firmware and I lost all my data. Tech support are nice but don't seem to know their own product. Lost days of time, backup and now I have an RMA drive that I won't use as a backup because the drive is AWFUL.

RUN, don't walk from this device. Drops off network at will, is horribly slow and Customer Service is rude.

Really bad choice will NEVER buy a Buffalo Tech device again.

Great Product

User Score: 10.png I got the 500GB model at frys and it worked out of the box great.

I got the Vista patch and it is doing just what is was intended to do "hold my back up files".
