Great little speakers . . .

by Richard on Dec 31st, 2008 at 10:25 PM:

I just bought these over a less-expensive, larger pair from M-Audio. They are being used as designed: as desktop computer speakers. They sound great! I wonder how they would sound with the bass going to AudioEngine's subwoofer...may be hard to beat that combo.

For our purposes (listening to iTunes/CD tracks) they are awesome--far, far better than any little plastic computer speakers. Can play VERY loudly while staying clear and balanced, which I appreciate.

I was hesitant to purchase them because they cost more than the M-Audios, which also sound good, but I'm completely happy with my purchase.

They will make you appreciate music in a way that you never have before. If all you care about is overpowering bass, then these are NOT for you. The bass is musical, not just loud thumps. As the review says, the bass is a little too thick without an EQ. Once adjusted, these are unbelievable. $200 is nothing once you hear these; they're worth well over $400.
