Best value in a 10MP compact camera.
by Pete on Oct 23rd, 2007 at 10:16 AM:
I'm a retired newspaper photographer so I did my homework before choosing the P5000. The camera has so many features I had to carry the manual with me for the first few weeks. All it needs is an extra memory card (cheap these days) and a spare battery (also inexpensive) and I'm good to go shoot nearly 400 pictures in auto or manual modes. I'm making 11" X 14" prints out of Photoshop that are stunning.
EXCELLENT CAMERA

I have used the Coolpix 5000 for sometime now and after handling 3 digital cameras find this to be the BEST in all ways. Great shots at a great price.
Good One

I own one and it's good. Yet to try the manual control options. More noise above ISO200.
Surfing thro menus is bit tricky.
Pic quality is good.
Battery life is bad compared to Sony models. The LCD drains the battery quickly.
Zoom rocker is placed well.
Control dial is redundant.
