Linksys CIT-400 issues (problems??)

After connecting it and finding that it did work well for making calls, I noticed that some my PC's functionality was gone...most notably the sound. I could not play music or dvd or get any sound to come through the sound card as there is a known driver conflict with the CIT-200 and Windows XP. The phone drivers take control of the soundcard and will not release it without being uninstalled...this was a problem I could not live with. After talking with Linksys, I sent the 200 back and upgraded to the CIT-400 which was supposed to overcome the problem by not requiring a connection to your PC...only the DSL router. Great!! I got the new CIT-400...hooked it up and tried to use it...worked great for making calls, I could hear perfectly well, but....no one could hear a word I said. So, another call to Linksys found another known issue with at least some routers (mine was a Westell 327W from Verizon). The problem is that the ports used by Westell do not handle voice/audio very well. Linksys suggest some port 'forwarding' to try but this would require the assistance of Westell or Verizon...called them and Verizon said they would assist for an additional tech support fee. FORGET IT. Too much trouble. I already have 2 strikes against Linksys...do I need a third? I'll look for a phone that actually works rather than try to reinvent the world.
