HP bet big and lost

by Chris on Oct 12th, 2008 at 3:53 PM:

It would appear that HP got the idea for this PC form a marketing meeting, certainly not a user group. It's all about hype and looking slick but who cares if it doesn't add some form of functionality or improvement on the user experience. The PC still hangs up like the typical vista machine, the HP hardware is cheap and needs to be replaced right out of the box with worthwhile components, and the 'touchscreen', lags in response and makes you appreciate the ease of the mouse (I should say 'good' mouse, see note on hardware above).

Overall- a hyped up over-advertised lemon that hp will probably make a bundle on for a year or so until word spreads.

Crashed and died after 2 weeks

by Jonathan Levy on Aug 14th, 2008 at 10:27 AM:

When I bought it at Staples, the salesman cautioned me to get the extended warranty. As it turned out the Hard Drive died after 2 weeks and HP is supposed to ship me a new computer. Not a reliable machine, a real time waster since I will have to set up a second one - HP may go the way of Packard Bell with this kind of quality.

Boo Hoo Hp

Wanted a touch screen. Saw this in a flyer and wow. Wow what a rip off.

Dvd/cd rom went poof within the first month.

Took a total of 4 days and about 5 hours & 2 emails to get HP to understand that I am more than capable to install a dvd player. But had to give them a credit card as a deposit to make sure that I send back the old one. Yea what I really was going to do was put it up for sale on ebay and become a millionaire.

Now I the 2nd dvd/cd rom is dead.

Lets see how long it takes them this time.

If there was a negative rating this computer would be a -10.

Hp customer service get some people that we can understand!!!!!!

Well Pleased

We purchased this system at Staples on sale for $1249.00 US.and we are very well pleased. The erratic mouse is my only complaint and a USB wired mouse works much better. Looks terrific! Runs terrific after slow startup. All built in hardware working fine. System in use since 09/2007.

Slow starter...

I've had this machine since October and got it from Fry's refurbished. It has replaced the Samsung HDTV 20" in the kitchen..for good. I have used it a lot. I use it alot for netflix on demand viewing in the kitchen. WiFi wont work but it is wire to the home-network. Yes the windows media center sucks big time. Use media player. ALso, go online and install the Hauppauge TV tuner(the one built into the machine) software and access the tv feature from the desk top icon to not waste time on the media center slowness. Much better. The video camera was a trick for sure. I got it working now perfectly so that I can see the Kitchen from the other computers on my network. It had to do with installing an Instant messenger web cam driver or utility...and it worked right up. My machine sits on the kitchen counter, in the corner. I can mouse and keyboard from the island about 6ft -8ft away, and remote from the island or from the bar at least 15 feet away. I noticed the batteries need to be fresh. IF you have skipping and keyboard problems, open the battery cover, twirl the batteries and ouila!, fresh again. THis works for all remotes and then you chunk the batteries after they are truly dead. What else do people complain about...oh yeah. Resize the hard drive c: down to 150G or so. The remaining reformat for a backup disk. Do all restores here. GO to Maxtor and get maxblast V5.0, make a bootable CD disk and then boot the iq770 from the disk. Back up C: to the new drive and you have a fully restoreable system with all the updates. If you dont do this you will regret it soon. And set the auto back to backup everyday so a restore point is created. We like it ... DVD is great and I have mine getting all the digital channels I can get here in Santa Fe, NM. I also figured out how to get my DISHnetwork working on channel 73...and I use DishRemote 2 to change channels. Not the best picutre but it works. The analog capability sucks. ALways get the latest updates...Vista that is. I've never seen an HP update. It games too...Not Ghost Recon however.
