Great phone but does need insurance. I've had it since apr. 2007 and have had all those problems. Upside down screen, broken inside screen, but when its okay its great!!!! Always buy insurance!! Phones fall too often!

Do Not Buy!

The owners manual needs to be rewritten as it doesn't provide information on how to use the MP3 player.

But to top it off, I had this phone for 6 weeks when all of a sudden out of no where the internal glass in my screen cracked. I didn't drop it or anything. It sat on my counter and when I picked it up it was broken. The outside glass was fine, not chipped or anything. I brought it to the Sprint store and had 2 other people in the store at the same time with the same model with the same issue.

I didn't have insurance and after spending $190 for the phone they wanted me to spend another $99 to get it fixed as they were saying it wasn't a manufacturer defect. This is hogwash! How could the inside glass break but yet the outside glass look and feel fine if I broke it? How can 3 people be in 1 small store with the same issue on the same phone.. There is flaws in this design and they do not want to warranty it. The next step is attorney generals office. Anyone else had this issue?

standard equipment (Calculator, Alarm, etc, not included

This is a nice phone but the instruction manual doesn't cover much. Also, there is no built in calculator or alarm clock that all phones I've had in the past have had as standard equipment. Sprint charges a monthly fee for these add ons.

3 years and still going

I got this phone in 2005 and never had the screen problem. To the people that have that problem my advice is stop dropping it so much.

i880 Has an Alarm Clock in the Datebook

I bought 2 of these phones. I have used Nextel and Motorola phones for over 5 years. I like the large screen and buttons. Yes, in some instances you can hear hissing and clicking when calling someone but it happens when there are few bars. Camera and Videos work fine. It's not rugged design like the i580 or i335 which are excellent phones. I like the push button open feature. There is a headphone jack and Bluetooth. I'm still looking for the calculator but someone on this review list said you have to download the 'ppl' whatever that means.

I purchased the insurance for $7 extra per month includes full replacement and internal parts.

I have been with Nextel/Sprint and have no complaints except maybe the hassle of calling customer service and dealing with reps that do not care about my call, in general.

I recommend this phone. You should get the insurance its only $7 bucks.

Oh ya, if you cannot take care of it then you might want to consider the rugged design phones and get the insurance. I don't see any problems in the future if there are I have the insurance. If you don't like your phone because it has problems the thing to do is email, call, and or write the Nextel/Sprint managers and supervisors and let your complaint be heard until you are satisfied. Complaints placed here on a review list do not get the attention of Nextel/Sprint powers that be. Please write and call the Nextel/Sprint managers and supervisors and executives for the service you deserve. There are thousands of phones on the market. Which of the phones should you get the insurance? On the one you're using. You can always cancel the insurance. You can always sell your phone on EBay, and try Verizon or Alltel or ATT. Good Luck.
