BEWARE PHONE WENT ON FIRE
by Donna on Feb 26th, 2008 at 11:01 AM:
BEWARE, I brought this phone last year and had to replace it 6 times already. The screen flips upside down and then the phone screen blacks out also sometimes the ear speaker blows out as well. I just got one brand new out the box this time I was charging the phone and it went on fire. I only had the phone for two weeks. Thank god I was not sleeping or this could have caused my house to go on fire. If you are thinking about getting this model I do not recommend it because if it isn't one thing it's another with this phone.
Upside down much?

Although it's a pretty sick looking phone, it's been nothing but problems since I got it. I've had this phone for about 3 months now; shortly after the first month, the screen would be upside down upon opening it every once in awhile. Then the problem gradually got worse. Not only is the inside screen upside down 90% of the time, but the external will artifact until it is completely white. The inside screen is also prone to red discoloration that can be downright annoying. The memory card slot is prone to problems as well. A brand new SanDisk microSD will not be read correctly 50% of the time. I've gone to a few Nextel tech centers, and have been told these are all extremely common problems. I've already gone through two i870s for various problems, and I can't see how Motorola is able to release these expensive phones with so many defects that run rampant. It would be best to save money for an i580 or similar rugged phone.
Phone is great

I have had this Phone since December of 2006, and I have yet to have a problem. I think the people below me might have received lemons. I have honestly never had this flip screen problem people talk about, neither a back light problem......
Not worth the cost

I bought this phone and it sucks. My screen is upside down 95% of the time I use it and the camera broke. I have only had this phone less than a year. I would not recommend paying $400 for it. I wouldn't pay more than $5 for it.
