Great Quality, long battery life amazing for every day life!

Pros:
I got my iPod shuffle for Christmas of 2008. We are now in September 2009 and it still works like a charm. This iPod has lasted longer then all my other ones including, the 1st gen iPod shuffle.
When I opened it I was amazed at how small it was and the way Apple packaged it. They really put in a lot of thought.
I do wish it had a USB connection built in and did not need the stupid dongle but I guess that has to do with making it smaller.
I love to use this on public transit, when I go jogging, and in my bed before I sleep! It works perfectly fine! Well, when jogging ear buds can fall out but not too often. It also looks great with clothes you wear. I have a green iPod shuffle.
* Via iTunes you can allow it to automatically convert songs to a lower rate so that it takes less space and quality BARELY changes. So now before you could hold 240 songs to well close to 500!
The cons to this iPod:
*It's small. Sometimes I lose it but I guess that's my fault not the iPods.
*Since you can't have *multiple* play-lists on the iPod it can be sort of annoying if you need it for certain things. For example for my jogs I would use more upbeat music. When I want to go to bed I prefer slower music but if upbeat music gets played I fined myself having trouble sleeping as it sort of increases my heart rate. You CAN add play lists on iTunes so what I do is I make the play-list on iTunes, and for example, if I want to go for a jog I just drag the playlist onto my iPod via iTunes. When I want to go to bed I delete the jogging songs off and then put in my "lullabies". It's less convenient then other iPods because you would never have to keep deleting and uploading.
* The crappy loading dock. It's annoying. If you need your shuffle on multiple computers for *charging* purposes only. I liked how the original shuffle (gum stick) just plugged into your computer and voila. If I want to use my iPod as a flash drive I need the stupid dock. If your dock breaks that's $30 to get it replaced
* Can not sync songs to more then one computer! With the iPod shuffle your songs can only be synced to one computer. If you do try you have to delete all your songs first. Super annoying if you want to get some of your friends songs from their computer.
* You need iTunes! I personally hate iTunes because I find it very slow. With the 1st gen iPod you could just drag and drop your mp3 files. Now you need to import them to iTunes then to your iPod. Sometimes iTunes won't take songs you already have on your computer!
Overall it is a good product though.
Easy to use

I got my 2nd gen shuffle a few months ago and have had no problems. It is so easy to use even a caveman could do it.
Disappointing

I just received one of these as an unexpected gift. I did not open it or try it as I suspected it would not be useful. Based on reading many reviews and the technical specifications, I have decided to return it. My phone is a better option.
It is always with me, so I have one device instead of two.
It has a screen so I can select the track that I want.
I can couple the phone to the car stereo. I could not do this with the Shuffle.
I can charge the phone from the car cradle or household current--do not need a computer. And, I have two batteries for the phone
I can easily change the flash memory card in the phone
Am I missing something?
Nice appearance but deceiving

After about 10 hours of use it does not work anymore. I may have spend 15 hours trying to fix it. I reloaded the software many times. The online apple store is now asking for my credit card number to service it under warranty. This is like most electronic: you are throwing money to garbage.

Great overall, cheap enough, and great sound!
