Nice when it came out

This monitor is ok, I've had it for over 5 years and it still runs its going bad though you can see little line going across the screen if you look at it closely. Usually degauss to get rid of the static in the picture; I'm trying to sell it soon for like 130 to 150 I pay 300 for it retail at CompUSA.

frustrating

Display's nice picture for games, movies or pictures, but text is blurry and the screen size/settings never stay the same and many things are chopped off the screen often.

This monitor turns itself on and off, the screen goes static randomly and the picture size changes itself and bounces. I hate this monitor! Dont buy one!

nothing but a headache

I'm sure this is a little late to be posting a review, but I've had it with this Viewsonic. Just like the others have said, the settings won't stay and the text is not crisp at all. But that's the least of my problems. For the longest time, this monitor would randomly get "static", the picture would become garbled, and then usually correct itself after about 10-30 seconds. I almost sent it in for warranty but the problem was so intermittant that I thought it might be a waste if they don't find anything and this CRT isn't worth that much. Then for some unknown reason the problem went away for several months. Only recently, now that the warranty is just expired, it has started the problem again, but even worse than before. Plus, it will spontaneously turn on and off every 2 seconds.. on-off-on-off.. I can hear the cathode firing inside the CRT and turn off again. Trust me, it's not the video card. I also was under the impression that Viewsonic was known for high-quality displays, but this CRT is a piece of junk. I'm throwing it in the trash today and buying an LCD instead.

Fantastic monitor!

I run this monitor in a room surrounded by electronic & audio equipment, and it never gets any interference of flicker. 1024x768 @ 100hz normally, but 1600x1200 when doing some graphic design work. Graphics card is an ATi Radeon 9600SE. This is a fantastic monitor, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. That said, it's probably the last CRT monitor I'll buy - next will be a LCD. ;-)
