Worst DVD Players on the market.
by Russ N on Feb 22nd, 2008 at 11:33 AM:
I own two Samsung DVD players and neither one of them worked for more than a year. Customer support suggested cleaning the player as a fix that cost me 25.00 for the cleaning kit which didn't correct the issue. I live in PA and the closest repair center is in NJ. I'd recommend anything but a SAMSUNG.
Clarifying "Up Converting"
by Tanner on Dec 31st, 2007 at 1:40 PM:
Just a clarification. Up-converting players do not and cannot convert standard DVDs to high definition 720p or 1080i/p pictures. DVDs only store up to 480 vertical lines of resolution. Up converting players cannot add lines of resolution; they simply prevent interlacing by outputting 480p signals.
HD VS HDMI
by Tyler on Dec 28th, 2007 at 4:29 PM:
I have an upscale DVD Samsung player and totally like it. I am running HDMI with a Sony LCD and it is great but, nowhere near picture quality of an HD DVD. REASON!! When people say you can upscale to 720p-1080i, its 1080i, the HD DVDs are 1080 p. big diff and may look better then HD TV.
Great DVD Player
by Ben B. on Jun 20th, 2007 at 11:23 AM:
I never understood why Samsung had such slow load times on some of their players, maybe its an old CPU chip they are using or something.
The picture quality and menu on this player is great, I have had no regrets buying it. The price could have been lower, but I figure it's high since they include an HDMI cable.
