Dish is horrible
by Carrie on Mar 31st, 2008 at 12:16 PM:
DISH is horrible. It started day one with acquiring satellite signal. I thought it would get better but it got worst. Only one TV in the house worked 99% of the time (living room). My mom's room was off 30% of the time with errors, downloading, reset, changing channels on its own, one TV controlling another, recording on its own, snowy screen and the famous acquiring satellite. Two TV's in the house was off 98% percent of the time. We are TV watchers so this is a nightmare and major inconvience. When a tech came out to fix the problem. He said the installer made the signal to low that's why the 2 TV's never worked and was always acquiring satellite. It worked fine for 1 week. Then the snowy black screen. I couldn't take it anymore. I was still under the 3 month warranty. They told me that if the tech could not fix the problem I could get out of the contract without paying the termination fee. Thank goodness they kept their word. I was able to escape Dish. I'm back with Direct TV. Dish was in our life from February 4, 2008 - March 17, 2008. I would recommend to anybody stay away from DISH unless you like drama. Go with Direct TV or cable. Anything is better than DISH.
Not a happy camper
by David S on Feb 20th, 2008 at 12:20 PM:
I am on my 3rd DVR 625 box waiting on my 4th coming to me by ups this week .my picture freezes up for a second or 2 then resumes, on my 2nd TV the picture gets grainy for 2or 3 seconds then resumes to normal, dish says they hardly ever has any problems out of the 625 box ,but I sure am not happy with it, one of the techs says the grainy problem might be a ham radio or a radar detector interrupting my signal, all I know I am not a happy camper at this time.
625 answers questions never asked....

The primary problem with the Dish Network two room systems starts with the external switch and compounds from there. In an attempt to save you 5 dollars a month they take a digital picture system... Satellite... and convert that signal to an analog signal which is then sent through Diplexers, DPD2's, due to the Satellite output voltage, and numerous feet of line, giving a less than ideal picture on any secondary TV. The idea of satellite is a better picture? Why send an analog week signal over a bunch of coax and often numerous connections to second TV. Secondly, the receiver does have common problems, a continual: Acquiring Satellite, Reset, acquiring Satellite...this is not a rare problem with the 625, and I have yet to find this problem truthfully addressed. Thirdly, most homes are not wired to accept this system without the addition of diplexers which weaken the signal to both the the 2nd and 4th TV's...and don't think that by getting a two room HD DVR that both rooms are in HD...For that you need a receiver at each TV.
Getting 05a1 errors too
by Jeff on Aug 17th, 2007 at 1:59 PM:
I am having almost the same problems as Gee Dee. I am getting the "05a1" error and can't use my DVR. Dish is sending a replacement, but it will take FIVE DAYS. That is ridiculous.

Acquiring Satellite Too
by Craig on Nov 10th, 2008 at 10:01 AM:
It's just weird.
We don't watch TV much, so we're just going to cancel. I hate calling customer service all the time. I have better things to do with my time than deal with this.
