complicated

I have used camcorders for many years. I have four. this one is small and handy, but i have no idea what some of the features are or how to use them. i tried calling jvc but forget that the number is always busy. i tried calling the cyberlink software that comes bundled with the product and of course, no help there either. the manual is terrible. I'm taking a digital editing class and this camera doesn't seem to comply with mini dv standards.
