Excellent on the go camcorder!
by Andy on Jul 25th, 2006 at 12:40 PM:
This by far the best hard drive camcorder currently on the market.
The video & picture quality is excellent compared to other similiar products, again this is a hard drive camcorder mind you.
It sleek, small, compact, light & trendy. I bought a 7 hour battery for it. With this camcorder you can pretty take it any where and not have to worry about the extra baggage that comes along with other camcorders. Point and shoot and review your video clips on the fly.
I recommend you buy the Everio DVD media burner station for ease of burning your videos to DVD disc. It'll help free up hard drive space on the long trips. Plus the station is portable and uses regular 4.7gb DVD media disc. That cheap media compared to mini dvd disc camcorders.
It's a little pricey but well worth it. Im taking it with my to Japan the next couple months and on my regular fishing trips. This is a great product by JVC.
Impressive

After owning several previous camcorders, I decided to make my move towards a HDD model. I have been reading several reviews about HDD camcorders and waited for this model to be released. I must say that after a week with this camera, I am thoroughly impressed. The video, although not as good as my last DVD camcorder, is still very good. Even better then seeing such good quality from my recordings, is the ease of importing video from the camera. Drag and drop. This is by far the best experience I've ever had importing video. The fact I can get 7+ hours of DVD quality video is also a huge plus. I used to hate swapping DVD's for every hour of shooting or tapes every couple hours. With this thing you could literally go on vacation and never have to worry if you brought enough media! I myself enjoy the manual controls and wish more camcorders had them. You can pretty much adjust any aspect of video shooting manually. The feel of the camcorder is very solid and comfortable. It rests nicely in your hand and all of your standard recording operations can be done one handed. Manual controls and menus are handled by the joystick on the side of the view screen. I actually prefer the joystick to the touch screen found on other camcorders. The stills from this model are also nice. While not as nice as a good 5MP model camera, I would say as good if not better then a 3MP model. Overall I rate this camcorder very high based on the fact there is no media to worry about, great form factor, and good video. For my money, defintely worth it.

Point & shoot! Take it anywhere!!!

As far as the visual quality goes its fairly decent & exceptional. With some fiddling you can get crisp clear brilliant output with video clips and pix's. Colors can get out of sync occassionally but it's no big deal. The MG505 is certainly not the best camcorder with the best visuals on the market, but after all it's still a hard drive based camcorder. And being one I can say that it is the best hard drive camcorder available right now.
Nothing beats being able to view your video clips & pix's with a touch of a button. No hassling no having to wait to rewind. Deleting a file is a snap as 123.
I highly recommend purchasing that Everio DVD burner station. It makes it so easy to transfer files to DVD. Plus it's a regular 4.7gb DVD disc media. It all cost so much less too and you get more storage per dollar compared to the small mini DVD camcorder disc.
I bought mine Everio on a Circuity City 24month no interest financing deal and didn't hessitate to pick up a 4 year protection/service plan. After all it's a hard drive based camcorder. And hard drives can fail. It's worth it and you'll thank yourself in the end if something goes wrong. (I am not a Circuit City employee).
This is a great product by JVC. Im very happy with it.
