Horrible

by John on Jan 21st, 2008 at 10:20 AM:

When I first got the sidekick, it wasn't so bad. The "G" would take a minute or two to reconnect when I just walk out of the train station. In about a month later, it started to take an even longer time to reconnect and then out of nowhere I would lose the "G" in my own home! I don' think its T-Mobile fault, it's just the sidekick 3 most likely wasn't fully tested out for the problems (that's why sidekick id, and LX had just recently came out). My sidekick still doesn't work after a year now. I highly regret buying this phone. If I could make the score any lower, I would.

Waste of money

I bought the sidekick 2 a few years ago and couldn't wait to get the new sidekick 3. I had the phone for 3 months and it started making a high pitch squeal whenever I plugged it in to charge. It also would take hours to send text messages. A month later when receiving phone calls my ring tone would play like a broken record. I have another friend with the Sidekick LD and he has the same problems. I spent about 8 hours on the phone with customer care trying to get a new sidekick 3 and when they finally sent me a new one, it didn't work! I would advise saving your money and going with someone other than T-mobile.

Jipped!

I got the SK3 from my husband as a Valentine's Day present. Number 1: it didn't come with the mini SD card as it had listed as an accessory in the book and when I called T-mobile, they only ran me through the ringer, said they'd send one, a month goes by, no card. Then the say they don't have any, I will have to buy one of the more expensive cards. Number 2:The first phone had issues with the digits (keys) not working or overworking where I'd press e and would end up with 20 of them and had a hard time texting, dialing, etc. I sent the phone back, received a replacement where I continued having issues. Finally, I ended up with the 3rd replacement phone and had it for a day, the trackball would not register when pressed down therefore making it impossible to play specific games and to use certain features. I held onto the phone for 2 months until it became a hassle and sent it back. When I received the box and opened it, they sent me back the same exact phone claiming water damage. Now, I have never got water onto, near or in the telephone so why would the sensor go off? I spoke with a representative who told me first that sitting in a sauna can do that, that you didn't have to get water into the phone at all. Well, that's odd cause I have never been in a sauna before! She also said that keeping it in it's carrying case can do that, so why then do they make the cases? She also told me that just holding the phone and sweating can cause the same issue. Therefore, normal use and care of the phone can set off the water sensors voiding out the warranty. How fair is that? Now, I have heard the Danger does not stand by their phones, I have also heard of a retention department, and when the rep told me to just buy a new phone, I almost flipped a lid! If I can't trust that they stand buy a guarantee and I can't trust that they wouldn't have jeapordized my warranty to leave me stuck with a faulty phone, why would I give them more money? All they said was they were sorry but they could do nothing for me. Just having the Sidekick and having had to go through 3 of them only makes me want to give up T-mobile altogether. It has been nothing but a pain and their Customer Service these days seems more concentrated on what money they can rake in, more than Customer Satisfaction. I pay $250 a month on my plan with downloads, monthly fees, etc. I'd think they would do something more to help but I guess they'd rather lose an 8 year customer who spends a crapload every year. Hmmmmmmm? I may not be back here at all.......nice place to vent though!

Maybe not Sidekick problem?

I don't think the problem with the signal is because of the sidekick. Maybe it is just T-Mobile. Damage to the sidekick happens because it is not treated as it should be (a fragile object).

NOT A GOOD BUY!

I wanted the Sidekick 3 for a long while so I finally broke down and bought it! Not what it's cracked up to be at all! For one the applications are expensive and you have to buy the Time Traveler App. to actually have an alarm! Every phone these days has an alarm! Plus the alarm won't wake you up unless you have your phone on ringer, if you want to turn your phone on silent and have the alarm wake you up it won't, it will go off but nothing will play, so you MUST have your ringer turned on! What a bummer! Also the speakerphone is horrible, the ringtones I believe are too highly priced and you can't send direct pictured messages via text messages you have to send them to an email. What really bothers me the most is the text messaging!!! I used to have another phone that would send and receive my messages fine but now this phone half the people I send messages to don't get them until hours later! You can't put pictures as wallpaper without buying the application...So pretty much any standard feature on a normal phone must be bought on the Sidekick! I overall say this phone is not worth spending your money on the only good thing I believe there is about this phone is that it looks nice, other than that it really is not that great!
