10 just for the cool factor....

by Dave on Jul 5th, 2006 at 8:29 PM:

great new toy, wanted a backlit keyboard and the feature to disable the windows key and right click key is way cool.... kind of cool to be able to have a nice LCD utilization meter.... BTW, to Sock B. who posted above, the game-mode switch is FAR from useless, it turns off the windows key and the right-click key on the keyboard, which if accidentally hit whilst gaming, will cause one to get kicked back to the Windows desktop... so it is indeed useful!

Ehh, can't find stuff

Well, the only thing that appears on my G15 LCD is the Cpu, and Ram Percents, and the Time. I want it to have the Bullets, Grenades, Ect... Someone please help me!... Email me!

great feel

installation of software was a cinch, and runs perfectly, the ability to creat custom macros for any game either in the windows environment, or in game is an incredibly usefull feature for any new online RPG.
The feel of the keys in great, and the wristrest's soft rubbery feel is very comfortable. I've had myne for almost 3 months, and it is showing no sign of wear, my previous microsoft cheapy keyboard's letters had started to fade after a little while.
the only disadvantage of this keyboard is it's size, this thing is huge. I must say I like the fact that they didn't try to shrink it by using the new trunkated home, end, Page up/down delete style of keys being arranged vertically, instead of their standard horizontal 6 key setup including the insert key.

Do not

Those of you who are thinking about buying this product read

I recently bought this keyboard and experienced problems with the arrow keys. I started off by e-mailing Logitech product support and that wasn't any help. Then I called there support line and went through 3 different operators and that wasn't any help. I spoke to a manger and he could not even tell me which one of his keyboards I can use with the games that I play. So now I'm stuck with this $100 thing, when I really had no problem with my $10 keyboard that worked. This is advertised as a gaming keyboard but buyer beware if you use "arrow keys" this device is not for you. The people at Logitech who designed this keyboard know about this issue but I was told that it will not be fixed.

Isn't all it is cracked up to be

I've had mine for about 2 months. In that time the legends on the keys have started chipping off. It looks awful now. The keys apparently are clear plastic with black paint on them, masked off for the legends. The quality of the masking is not great, and as I mentioned, the mask starts chipping off after a month of use.

The back lighting is too dim for a brightly lit room and there is no contrast on the key legends with out the backlight, so you can't see the key legends in a bright room.

Also, I have not been able to get the software to install and work properly on windows XP running on an AMD 64x2, so the extra keys do not work at all, and the LCD will only display the logitech splash screen. Logitech support has not even answered any of my queries about the software.

This keyboard is not worth the premium paid for it. Save your money and buy something else.
