File Format iRiver T30

by RABaker on Jan 1st, 2007 at 9:44 AM:

Just bought the T30. Don't get discouraged by the immediate difficulty of learning the controls and options. Don't use Windows Media Player. Using Windows Explorer drop folders of music CDs into the "data" folder, then using the Browser option on the T30 you can select different folders of music. It is not easy to figure the T30 controls out, but once you do it is a great little MP3 player.

I just found a way to get around having to use Windows Media Player. Good thing, because I was just about to give the player away. Using Windows Media Player, there is no way to organize the music in folder, so you can just go from folder to folder without thumbing through all the songs in each folder. What I did was upgrade to the latest firmware, and then I double-clicked the player in "my computer" and opened the data file. Then I just dragged and dropped the folders into the data file. All of the music shows and plays in the folders I arranged it in. It iRiver makes good players that can be a pain.

Good sound. Battery cover fell off after 2 months. Can not find a replacement.

Poor Hardware Quality

by J. Sharpe on Jan 12th, 2006 at 12:43 PM:

I have had my T30 1G for about three weeks. The loading and playback features are OK and similar to others on the market. From the operations perspective I am satisfied with its performance. However, I do have a major issue with the quality of the hardware.

The battery cover fit was very sloppy. The cover eventually fell out and was lost leaving a gapping hole in the unit. I took it back to the retailer to exchange it for another unit but they would not exchange it because it was not all there. I contacted iRiver America and was told that they would not exchange it and that I should watch their eStore for the opportunity to purchase a new cover if they get some in the future! Such a deal! I spent $149 for a MP3 player and it looks like its falling apart. There are many better units available. I will not waste my money on another iRiver.

Great Value

Excellent sound with SRS and equalizer. Syncing via Windows Media Player could not be any easier from either downloaded sources or ripped CD's. Can be found for under $80.00 at many retail stores. Also has in-line jack.
