Great PC, top notch customer service

by Terry on Oct 16th, 2007 at 4:06 PM:

My XPS performed flawlessly for 9 months at which point the card reader malfunctioned. Customer service had someone to my house in 2 days to replace the reader. No problems since. Good job, Dell.

Tell me about the computer

Don't review the tech service. Tell me about the computer. If you aren;t aware that Dell outsources it's tech support to other areas of the world, you should not buy one. But I want to know about the computer you bought and nobody has done that. has

Great computer for the price

I don't know why so many other people have complained about the customer service, since I have never had a problem with them. They have been courteous and I have not had any problem understanding them.

The computer is fast, runs cool and quiet, and the 20" widescreen monitor I ordered mine with is beautiful! The case design really is top-notch, and other than upgrading the motherboard every component is easily accessible for future upgrades.

I was a bit hesitant to purchase a Dell desktop based on the negative reviews, but I'm really glad I did. I am very happy with my purchase.

AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE

It honestly took me over 5 hours and about 40 phone calls to Dell to get the system I wanted and with the appropriate discount...They hang up on you constantly and don't call back...It was as simple as them taking my online cart and applying the discounts...They must work on commission because every person I called tried to make a deal with me saying things like "I can throw in free overnight shipping and try to match your teacher discount if you just apply for our credit" instead of transferring me to the right dept...Then I finally get the order together with them and the guy tells me he's going to put me on hold "one last time to get your order number." Then, click...He took my credit card info and everything...I can't call back that night because it was now after hours...I thought the salesperson might call me back the next day to confirm...Nope...So I call Dell and ask what's going on and get hung up on more and transferred throughout their entire system before finding out that the salesperson didn't put anything through, but somehow charged my credit card 81.50 - The total order was for over 4,000.00 What the hell??? So I try to re-order and spend more hours finally getting everything I need and they mix up the order and charge my card for 2 systems...More calls, more transfers, more hang ups...They suck bad...I get a good discount so I hung in there - but if I didn't have it- I'd go somewhere else immediately...They are VERY untogether and have very limited knowledge of the products they sell...Never again....

great computer bad customer service

Nice computer.... I also have to say I am very dissapointed in the customer service. I called one day because of some software on my computer that was trying to update everytime I turned the computer on. I didn't want to delete the program because I might use it. I tried the online chat and the said I had to call a special technician. So I called the number and the lady had to hear the story three times to try to figure out what was going on... And then all she could tell me is that if I wasnted help from a Technician for it I was going to have to buy the software warranty from them for $8 dollars a month... This pissed me off really bad... I have already purchased an extended waranty for everything else and I payed over 2 grand for my computer.. I thought when purchasing my XPS 400 I was supposed to be gettting great customer service.. Oh well, the computer still works great and I finally fixed the problem myself..
