Not worth the money

Nearly impossible to find 'common' replacement parts, such as replacement LCD screens. Parts are 4 times more expensive than 'normal' notebook parts. Why is it I'm paying $550 for a screen that is 5 inches smaller than the one I replaced in my own laptop for $180? Come on, Sony, your stuff stinks just like everyone else's, so bring your prices down to a reasonable level.
What a waste of $3,000!!!!!!

I purchased my tx770 march of 2006. The first day customer support thought "I MIGHT have a hardware issue." Well a year later....still trying to actually USE the stupid, useless, and completely undependable laptop. Last week 8/07, after being in my home, extended 3 year warranty was treated like an annoyance, 3 tech guys who easily should get training on Sony AND customer service: sent my entire repair hardware to the wrong city. Then, for fun-when the guy did show up, he only had the hard drive, which the phone tech screamed (seriously) was not the problem! He insisted the DVD was the culprit.
Still waiting for repairs and the keyboard is shot, Vista killed every bit of date I had, and just wondering what exactly this computer is for? It doesn't really work. And SONY CUST SERV. SUCKS!
Very Disappointing

For the price this has to be the most disappointing computer I have ever used. Hard drive died within 12 months. Battery died within 18 months - even the keyboard has worn out! Come on Sony, improve your quality not your revenue!
SONY's service is so awful!

I bought Vaio TX26 in Taiwan on Feb26,2006,but I was so sad that LCD got broken on Mar5,2006.I am very sure that I took my new friend,FX26,very gently and carefully in those “7 “days.I just can not understand why LCD could get broken when I powered off& closed the cover ,15mins later, opened the cover then powered on again without moving it.
My NB’s problem descriptions are as followings:
1. LCD got broken
2. Volume adjustment(outside) will make music intermittent
3. System is not stable.
4. The up-side carbon fiber frame(frame on the top of LCD) is not fixed.
In these days, I was just so surprised about SONY’s CUSTOMER SERVICE QUALITY. TX26 had been sent to SONY Taiwan repair department on Mar.6.
Followings are some “interesting” things happened from 3/6~3/10 between me and SONY Taiwan.
3/6 I called customer service
I: I wanna know what happened to my NB, Could you check that for me?
Customer Service:ok,…I will check it for you and call you back later.
3/7 Nobody called back to me.
3/8 I called customer service myself again. What surprised me was service people CANNOT know exactly where my NB is from IT system. Service people even could not tell me
“SONY’s standard test process” and” How many days I need to wait”.I told service people it’s very inconvenient for me without NB and SONY should ensure me how many days engineers need to find the NB’s problem .However,no one took my problem seriously. Service people promised me he will called me back in the afternoon but at last no one call back again.
3/9 Still, nobody responded.
3/10 Service people called me finally and aimed to quote for LCD’s repairing price.
I asked to know “what reason made LCD broken”.Service people told me engineer only came out one judgment ”LCD got Broken” and will never tell me what reason may cause that damage. OH MY GOD, everyone just know “LCD got broken” at the first moment ,I CANNOT believe that SONY’s PROFESSIONAL engineers finally gave such a UNPROFESSOINAL judgment after taking away my NB for FIVE days!
LCD got broken under the situation that I treated it GENTLY and CAREFULLY in only 7 days after I bought , SONY should give me one reasonable& logical reason to prove it’s really my fault to damage LCD instead only tell me”LCD got broken & LCD broken must be caused by people& you should pay it”I think it’s not FAIR for consumers.
I am really very mad at SONY ’s UNPROFESSIONAL SERVICE .SONY always ignores customers’ need and right and that makes many people angry at SONY TW’s service for a long time and they broadly complained on internet(ex.BBS..).This situation had already caught mass media’s eyes.For instance,a journo will interview with me next week.
I think TX is really beautiful,I really like it.However, when sony charges consumers so expensive,sony should provide better service!
At last,I would remind again who has TX NB should treat TX more gently because its LCD is very fragile!!

SONY SERVICE STINKS

Now the screen is broken on this darn thing and I cant get parts anywhere. Everyone suggests get a new laptop - not from Sony. Any help?
