sharp picture, extreme moire effect

by Gary on Dec 24th, 2005 at 2:27 AM:

the 1600x1200@85hz resolution delivers a sharp picture with a good geometry. I bought this monitor to replace my Sony G400. When you're sitting five years in front of a G400
with it's almost (for a CRT...) perfect picture, you quickly will notice weaknesses of another monitor.
So, the 1100DF has a very strange moire effect i've never seen on other monitors except some other syncmaster models ( the 19 inch has the same problem). It is effectively not possible to get rid of the moire which apears mainly on unicolor areas. One can work with that if yourscreen content changes quite fast. If your are doing some picture editing while looking for hours on the same, this monitor is definitely NOT for you.

Replacement better but not perfect

I recevied my replacement 1100DF-Black this afternoon and I am fairly happy with it. The scratches in the center of the screen are gone. However, there are still some small bright spots in the anti-glare screen on the right side of the screen. They are not as noticeable though. I guess this must be a manufacturing quirk. Overall, I'm fairly happy with this one.

Nice Picture, defects in screen

by Eric on May 6th, 2004 at 12:14 PM:

I too bought this monitor and was impressed with the picture quality right away. However, mine did have some problems and I am currently awaiting its replacement.

The biggest problem I encountered was what appeared to be an inconsistent coating over the anti-glare screen which produced some bright spots toward the right side of the screen. Also, there were some minute specs of dust (or possibly scrathes) on the inside of the anti-glare screen causing some pixels to be magnified and distorted. These specs were not a big deal except when you were editing a document or writing and the cursor ended up near them. They became distracting and started driving me up the wall. Also, they were towards the center of the screen.

I'll keep you posted on the replacement.

Samsung 1100DF Screen Distortion

by david on May 5th, 2004 at 9:32 PM:

I purchased the monitor based upon the fine .2 dot pitch advertised as being good for CAD/CAM. The monitor is a complete dissapointment. The monitor suffers very apparent distortion vertically that causes straight lines to bow badly in the center of the screen. The special coating also has problems where bright spots are apparent -- right out of the box. If you like straight lines to appear like noodles -- this is the monitor you've been waiting for

Simply the best

This monitor is incredible. The picture is so clear even at high resolutions. The colors are so vivid and brilliant. Excellent monitor for the price!
