Choose Another

I bought this new when they cost $100. I had to return the first one because, just like in the other review the HDMI didn't work. Now the second unit is going on the fritz with the hard drive. I think that they are using cheap components. I would reccomend a different unit. I am going to call DTV and see what they will do.
Not very reliable

As far as features it is an excellent unit. However I am on my 3rd unit in less than a year. The problem is with the HDMI output card. If you plan on watching HDTV, then don't even bother with the HDMI/DVI hookups on your TV. In every case when the card went bad, I could switch to the component output on the tuner and it would work fine. Nobody seems to admit to the problem, they just blame it on new technology. I paid $1000 for it when it first came out. Thought it would be a better unit than that.
It does have the abiltiy to be networked, however Hughes has disabled it. Don't expect to hook it to your home network and play MP3 or pictures from a shared drive like other TiVO units. (Unless you hack it).
Other issues are spontaneous shutdowns. DirceTV's answer it to reboot the machine. It works, but you have to wonder why. Takes forever to boot up. The on screen guide is slow and cumbersome as well.
Love the 2 tuners, however everyone is jumping on that one.
