I've had two m7160n computers and both have had nothing but problems during windows shutdown it freezes and has to be manually turned off. After it has been on for awhile it locks up and I must again manually power it off. Hp Support can't seem to help.
Great Computer for its Price!

This computer is great for multi-tasking as well as running heavy software programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects. So, far no problems with this computer and I enjoy the TV Tuner on this thing! I can watch TV and work on things at the same time! The Pentium D processor is lightning fast and is a Dual-Core. People in the other reviews that complain about the software and how it freezes. Well to be honest, never use programs that come with the computer. Their junk. Pay a couple of extra bucks and get a "real" video editing software. Oh and uninstall all the games and other applications that you don't really need on the system, they just take up space which you can free up. The computer stays cool and doesn't get overheated. I would recommend this computer to anyone!
Numerous problems, poor support.

My DVD rewritable drive keeps opening and it will not read or write anything. Even before this problem developed, I was unable to write to a blank DVD disk in an effort to prepare a restore DVD as I was instructed to do by a message appearing on my desktop. I tried to troubleshoot the drive (E), but every time I put in a CD or DVD as instructed, it was ejected and I found no mention of this problem. A second problem I am having with my new m7160n is that the printer will no longer work and I am getting the error message that I am using the wrong tri-color cartridge and need to purchase an HP 95 or HP 97 and am directed to a website where I can make the purchase. The only problem is that I already have an HP 95 which came with the printer installed and it had been working fine for the last couple of weeks until I suddenly developed this problem. A third problem is that my computer was unable to automatically tune my cable television stations and I could only receive about 2 out of about 60 available stations when I tuned manually. A technician at Best Buy replaced the TV tuner card with one from an identical floor model and I had updated the drivers for the TV tuner card, but neither of these helped resolve the problem and the PC doctor which came with the computer was not helpful either. When I called for technical support on the telephone (I am supposed to be entitled to a year of free support), I was advised to buy paid support for 30 minutes for about $60. The first person I called spent 5 minutes to tell me that I would be better off to not transfer information from my old computer to the new and the 2nd spent about 25 minutes to tell me it would be safe to disconnect my new portable hard drive from my old laptop even though he was unable to get the old laptop to display the message that it was safe to remove this hardware. When I called for free support from HP today, I was told that their computer was down and that they would call me back withing 24 hours. Another time I called for free support, the telephone reception was so unclear that I could not hear the technician although they said that they heard me fine. I always considered Hewlett-Packard to be an excellent brand and I own stock in this company, but my experience so far with my new Media Center Computer has certainly not been good.
