Had it for around 2 years?

by Shavage on Sep 2nd, 2007 at 10:31 PM:

I can't complain for the price I paid back in the day and the deal I got, its not the most reliable but its not that notorious, it does the job as advertised just needed the new firmware to bring it up to scratch

Works Perfectly Well Over A Year

by Conan on Aug 15th, 2007 at 10:56 AM:

I wonder about reviews sometimes. I've had this router for well over a year and have had ZERO problems with it. I only use DLink in my line of work, so there are a few dozen DLink (various models) out there that I support and any problems have been few and far between.

My DI-524 is supporting...

Wireless: TiVo, Wii, Notebook

Wired: 2 Desktops, DVR, VoIP service

I've had to reset ("pull the plug") the router maybe twice since I've had it. The wireless signal is strong and I stay connected. I don't lose my internet connection at all.

I've used it for DSL and Cable. The interface doesn't get any easier to use.

I can't think of any negative remarks to make on this router. It just works as advertised.

What problems?

by Steven Johnson on Apr 26th, 2007 at 2:17 PM:

I don't understand why this router gets mediocre comments everywhere. I've had this router for 3 months now since upgrading from my old Netgear, and it's been brilliant. Set-up with no problems, never dropped the connection once. I have my XBOX 360 connected along with 2 wired PC's and it's been brilliant.

I cannot fault this little baby... 10/10 from me.

Possibly worst wireless router on earth

by crazyjerry on Mar 2nd, 2007 at 11:31 PM:

The first DI-524 I had was extremely unstable. It tended to lose connection or even to lose its own configurations. I don't know why I got a second DI-524, maybe because of the heavy rebate offers. What a mistake! It was nothing but headache. Its wireless AP gives a very weak signal even at 10 feet away with nothing but air in between. Now I have two crippled D-Link router sitting in front of me and the only thing I want to do is to toss both of them out of the windows! Stay away from this router unless you have extra money and life to burn.

Beware of D-link

by Tim Ellis on Feb 24th, 2007 at 1:31 PM:

My D-link wireless router stopped functioning after 4 months. I created an RMA request for a replacement router with D-link on 10/13/06. I decided not to return the product until after I received the replacement to ensure that I returned all required items shipped to me. The product was temporarily lost by UPS and was delayed several days. It was supposed to be delivered on Friday, 10/20 but was not received until Monday 10/23. I work out of town during the week and installed the replacement router when I returned on Friday 10/27 and shipped the defective router the next day on 10/28 via USPS (since I didn't trust UPS). Router was received by D-link on 11/14, 2 days beyond the 30 day limit. The D-link's "Cross-Shipment Agreement," does not define a critical element to a contract: the price I would be charged if it was not returned within the 30 day window. The CSA states that I "...will be charged one hundred percent (100%) the value of the replacement unit(s)..." No where in the contract does it state how the value is to be determined. I originally paid $64.99 for the router in June. It is unconscionable that D-link would attempt to charge $149.99 for defective version of the same product. I made a good faith attempt at expediently returning the defective product. I have attempted on multiple occasions to resolve this with D-link to no avail. I am currently disputing this charge with my credit card company. Stay away from this company!
