Crap service

by Stuart on Apr 28th, 2008 at 1:13 PM:

CD drive died but they wouldnt let me just send in the CD drive for repair, they wanted the whole machine. Was easier just to buy new CD drive.

Motherboard has craped out after only 18 months but power plug input broke.

Still a great machine with nice battery life and perfect screen.

Shame about the after sales service

Poor aftersales service in new Zealand

by C King on Jun 1st, 2007 at 9:44 AM:

Nice laptop computer 10/10 but no Bluetooth, and was going to get another until I tried to access the aftersales service. The aftersales service in New Zealand is cumbersome and very unfriendly. I needed to make 2 phone calls to get a service number , and then had to wait for them to call me back before I could present it to a service centre, several hours later!

Despite begin a computer company they couldn't then access my service number when i rang again for further support, and had to repeat this phone calling routine again.

Repair

If in need of parts or service good luck. This is not for experienced computer users who work on their own computers. Fujitsu requires you to send the computer to one of their service centers, who not only over charge you, they will not sell you the parts. Wish I had known this before purchasing, now I must attempt to find a way to be away from my computer for over a week. Not easy to do for those of us who bought a Tablet PC because we use it for work.

Each Day I fall in love with it again

This is my second laptop. I love Fujitsu for its stylish looks, ruggedness and above all reliability. You just can't beat a quality Fujitsu made laptop. When this baby first came out I was salivating over it but at SGD$3,999 it was just beyond reach for a student. I was then using the Fujitsu e7010, which is a very good and rugged model, but nothing like the P7010D

Once i got the P7010D, i've had it for about 1 year already. It works great and its a little technological marvel. Its the best thing that i've ever bought, tech wise, and it runs all my applications, games and other peripheral stuff in a snap.

I have found the keyboard to be just right and as the first reader said, my fingers are a little to the fat side of thin, but there is just no problems using it.

My only gripe with the thing is that the right side palm rest can get a little too hot for comfort, thats where the HDD is you see. Therefore, when i type, i have to take pains to lift my right palm up in case i dont want my skin to get scalded.

I've got it hooked now to my 22inch sam sung monitor and it works great no problem.

I intend to take good care of this little darling and i hope it lasts me for the next 5-7 years! the resultant models from the p series no longer appeal to me that much, esp the upcoming p7230, 2 generations after the p7010.

the 7010 indeed takes the cake for its good looks, reliability and performance.

i highly recommend it to ALL!

Soooooo Cooooool !!!!!

I think this laptop is the best I have ever used, I have had a few and the last monster I had was a HP ZD8181ea.... You have to be a weight lifter to own one of these, I kept it for 1 month and sold it to buy the P7010 Ocean view black special edition.... It it far better in performance than the HP it starts up in half the time too, but what makes it so good is the portability, the battery will last easily 4.5 hours and the special edition comes with a second battery which loads into the CD drive bay, it will then last upto 8 hours, which is so handy when traveling, I found it just perfect on the plane journy to the USA which is 10 hours long, I watched three films that I had stored on the hard drive, on the SE ocean black is 100 gig !!!.
The wireless works really well and the receiver worked far better than any of the other wireless laptops I have used.
The screen is just right, it can be as bright as you like, I have it set about 75% which is perfect for me, so with the extra 25% makes it perfect for out door use.
I do photography and found the compact flash bay a pleasant surprise! as 95% of laptops don't add the CF slot.
The display is like I have said very very good, but if you fancy putting an external monitor on the laptop, it comes with a standard monitor port, so just plug your monitor in and your all set, other makes offer a mini port, which is a pain, because you have to carry adapter leads.
I have read that the keyboard can be a bit fiddly to use, but I have not found this, and my fingers are on the slightly fatter side of thin.
On the down side, I would liked to have had bluetooth or infrared or better still both! on this unit, so I could connect to the internet via my mobile phone, but overcame this by buying an infrared usb dongle, which worked well, so can connect to the net now via mobile, I use the T-mobile network and it connects at 156kbps and is cheap to use, I pay £10 for 20mb of usage, and it works great on this P7010.
The SE ocean black comes with a really nice leather folio case, which has pockets to keep the extra battery and other things like dongles in, it makes it a very very small unit to carry about, but would liked to have had a carry handle, but I am going to have one stitched on, so not to much of a problem.
The SE also comes with a three year warranty, and found the Fujitsu after sales service to be the best I have encountered.
If you are thinking of buying a laptop, then look no further than this one, you will not be disapointed!
