Curious on Hardware Specs

by B. Kaplun on Nov 27th, 2007 at 10:10 AM:

I am looking to purchase a tuner card. After reading these reviews, I am curious to know the hardware specs for each person providing a review. While I have had installation issues with previous ATI cards, they were mostly linked to installing on a system with older and newer hardware / software. My initial thought on some of these reviews sounds like issues are resulting from older hardware and / or the configurations. Example: Performance will also greatly be impacted by amount of RAM, RAM speed, Video Card, hard drive access speeds, and even if your hard drive needs defragged. Another impact is if your system's BIO should need updated. Many of these are areas that the general home hardware user may not be completely aware of than others.

TV Wonder Elite and PowerCinema 3.0 Rate 3

Hardware is really very good. The Software is awful in almost every respect. I would not purchase ATI again. Your money is better spent with others. Their technical support does not function from where ever they are.

Good hardware

No question that the picture quality is as good as you are going to get. The software is not optimal, but it is not a bad value. Be aware that the MPEG2 recordings are excellent, but have a copy protection flag that will not allow you view the files on another computer with Windows Media Player. (Unless you have a video editing program that ignores the flag. PowerDirector works.)

Card and Power Cinema Great

I found it strange that both my card and software are working great - so don't really know why everyone else, at least several, seems to be having problems.

I'd recommend both - but am running Dell XPS - and runs perfect.

Card good, Power Cinema awful

The card itself is good -- but power cinema, the software that comes with the card is sloooow, clunky, limited, and quirky. The channel previews take so long that they are pathetic and useless. I bought this card as an upgrate to the basic ATI Wonder -- and the software is a giant step backwards and doesn't even have a guide. I would NOT recommend buying this product.
