Great Musical Friend

I have had mine for about a year, and it is perfect for my needs. It's small and compact, so it's perfect for traveling, which I do a lot. Combined with the irock beamer you can get at Radioshack, it totally makes up for not having a cd player in my car. I love the expansion slot because you can decide how much memory you personally need, and you don't have to waste money on excessive space you'll never use. The armband is great for the gym and taking a jog, which is when I need my music the most, and very few mp3 players have as good of a workout set-up. The battery life is wonderful, and when the battery dies you just replace it. You don't have to worry about recharging or buying a new player when your battery is shot like with an ipod. In short, or not so much, I love my Rio Forge and highly recommend it, especially to the poor college student.

Don't waste your money

This item only lasted 6 months and it was really nice and I was very pleased w/ the performance of this unit before it just stopped working, I only used it for my afternoon jogs and it was never dropped or anything. Yet one day the unit would not power on.
I tried all the obvious things, new battery and things of that nature. Contacted the company and they replied w/ a list of things to check. I did those still no power. Then they said they don't fix them but I can swap mine for 99.00. Now you can get a new one w/ 512MB for 99.00 so why would any sane person agree to this? Look around there are tons of these units refurbished for sale. This should have been a red flag for me. My advice save your money if you are thinking about buying this unit, better yet go w/ another MP# maker altogether.
I ended up buying the Apple iPod Shuffle 512MB for 99.00 and it works better than this one ever did.
