Got time?
by Bob Smith on Apr 20th, 2004 at 1:19 AM:
So, plan on scanning in your collection of 35mm, or planning on beating the Megapixal game by shooting 35 and scanning at 5400 dpi? Well, unless you're doing 50 to life and have nothing else to do forget it. A 5400 DPI scan will put you back around 8 to 10 minutes. You'll scan about 20 slides and be screaming to do something else less boring. Save your money and buy a really good digital SLR.
Unreliable hardware
by Bruce on Apr 6th, 2004 at 12:57 PM:
This unit failed twice in 4 months of occasional use. Not recommened. The scans are good, and the software is reasonable, but the unit is completely unreliable. I scanned a few slides when I got it. Two weeks later after no use, it would not load. After it came back from being repaired, I scanned another 500 slides. After a month of not using it, the unit would not load or eject the film holder.
Look else where if you want something that works and is not in the shop constantly.
No customer support offered by Minolta
by Gary on Feb 14th, 2004 at 6:34 PM:
I had a very difficult time trying to get the software to load on a window 2000 professional PC. After downloading software patches I could get it work only part time through photoshop. Much to my displeasure Minolta does not publish customer support numbers in any of its accompanying documentation. I believe the hardware is fine but never could get software problem resolved.

Excellent although not fast

As in most good scanners, should be operated rather manually (you can write your own scripts) rather than using the automatic functions of the software.
Impressive Digital ICE, excellent autofocus.
No hardware problem so far....
