Worst Phone ever

by Charles on Jul 21st, 2007 at 10:09 PM:

User Score: 2.png This is the worst phone ever conceived. The sound is of such bad quality, of such a low volume that we had to stick it on our ear with our hand over the other ear to have a normal conversation. One wonders why so many "features" when the most important parameter is of such low quality. What good is a phone if its sound quality is that bad. Do not buy this phone, do not encourage mediocrity.

Poor rating

User Score: 1.png This is the worst phone I have ever owned. It usually takes about 5 tries before an outgoing call can be placed. Incoming calls and the answering machine seem to work OK. I would not recommend this phone to anyone. It sucks.

Still getting to know it

by Tony on Jan 7th, 2005 at 2:36 PM:

User Score: 6.png I like the compact size, and the businesslike all-black colour scheme. I also like the solid feel of the handset and the rubber grips.

The price was decent; in Canada, $99.00 CAD.

I'm less keen on the earpiece; unlike my 2.4 gHz Panasonic, I have to sort of fiddle around to get the sound outlet right over my ear, or I don't hear clearly.

The handset doesn't tuck into the hunchback-neck-hold-the-phone-with-your-shoulder routine... it's too flat and small. This would not be so bad, except for the BIG ONE issue described below.

I found the instructions fiddly and mysterious -- not intuitive at all. Maybe this is just me... I just never had the same navigational issues with the Panasonic.

BIG ONE: this phone was sold to me as having a speakerphone feature. I do a lot of work on the phone and (a) I don't want to fry my brain with radio waves and (b) I often need to write and do stuff on my notebook as I'm discussing things with associates by phone. So imagine my reaction when I see nothing in user guide about handsfree operation.

At least, not that I can find. Is this just me again? I see it listed in the specs on this site -- handset speakerphone function/feature -- but I'm darned if I can find it anywhere.

What gives?

Maybe I'll figure it out, or someone will help me. The fact that I need help will keep the score under an 8, even if it does turn out to have the feature I bought it for. These things should be easy. If it doesn't, then I'm afraid the score is going to go down. Big time.

Not totally 5.8GHz

by Robert on Nov 24th, 2004 at 3:05 PM:

User Score: 5.png Per Motorola, the MA560 phone transmits at 5.8GHz incoming and 2.4GHz outgoing.
