Question? what about pop
by Dmartin on Mar 25th, 2005 at 11:40 AM:
I'm waitng for a tax return inorder to purchase an LG-dlp Tv. I want the most bang for my buck,so all the features carry the same weight. I've look at the Panasonic,Samsung,JVC, and RCA. I like the picture on the JVC but it was eliminated because it did'nt have
a rgb-input (computer monitor input) which is a must.
I see a recurring theme with most of the consumer reviews reporting issues with Samsung, at startup the
Tv turns off or the bulb needs replacing before the set work properly. RCA's beautiful picture sorry design.(personal)
I'm leaning away from the panasonic because of pop
I understand that I can only watch 2 different source w/
spit screen.Split screen should allow me to watch any
of the cable channel(example HBO on one side Showtime on the other.) The panasonic will allow me to watch HBO on one side and another component source on the other such as DVD,VCR, or a Computer
signal. My Question is how does picture on picture work on the LG's?
Watch for bad shadow detail
by PFC5 on Feb 21st, 2005 at 12:48 AM:
I bought the 44SZ63D version with the HD3 chip and I loved the cabinet. I think the all black cabinet looks the best and is what made me jump through many hoops to try to keep it. I went through 6 different TVs trying to find one that actually works right.
First one had a bad bulb.
Second one had a tilted picture, but good picture.
Third one was even more tilted, didn't bother looking at the picture.
Fourth one had severe pincusioning (sides bowed in a lot like an hourglass on 4:3 format sources).
Fifth only looked good with HD sources, but it looked like xrays in the shadows.
Sixth one had the same problem as the fifth only not as bad. Some times you couldn't even tell what was in the shadows for sure, and not because it was too dark, but because it was very pixalated.
Tried a Samsung HL-P4663W, but it had the lip-sync issue with Pirates of the Caribbean (DTS), Bad Boys (Superbit DTS), and Saving Private Ryan DTS Version). Sorry, but lip-sync was so bad I couldn't even watch the movie.
Bought an RCA HD50LPW164 (of all brands I hate them most), but it has a great picture with unbelievable details in the shadows and no lip-sync either. Best picture I have seen in a HDTV yet. It has the same TI HD3 DLP chip as LG & Samsung, but it does it better than they do. I just cannot believe it is an RCA. It might be because Infocus does there light engine for them. Infocus is the biggest maker of Front Projectors so they know what they are doing with projecting images.
Before you buy anything you really should check out the new RCA DLPs they have the best picture I have ever seen.
Very Satisfied

I shopped for about 2 months for a big screen television and was about to purchase a 50" panasonic over the samsung 50" DLP when I saw this tv. This one is much brighter and clearer than the panasonic and at least equal to the Samsung. DVD's and Xbox look great. Even my cable (non HDTV) looks as good as my tube tv. I have no regrets buying this one over the many that I was looking at.
Great picture...fan noise
by Akira on Jan 18th, 2005 at 11:51 PM:
I bought the LG RU-52SZ61D for two reasons:
best picture and best esthetics
BUT!!! the fan noise drove me crazy. I am returning it for the JVC/ D-ILA which has an equaly good picture (some say superior) but, I hear that fan is loud too. I think this is a problem with all of these units. People complain about all of these non decernable image artifacts which I can't see, but I sure can hear the fan!!!
