It's ok

User Score: 5.png Well, it's the only one i've seen that does video as well. It's about three years old now (this is 2006) and linksys doesn't have a new one. Word of warning, it requires certain ports opened, and the windows firewall in SP2 blocks it from working. I'm trying to find a list of ports so I can turn my firewall back on.

Really good.

User Score: 10.png It does what it is suppose to do. Just make sure don't install .NET 1.1 or 2. Only works with .NET version 1 which comes with the app software if you downlaod from the WEB. Only thing I misss is VGA quality video output for picture as LCD's are cheap and I can set with good quality picture.

the problem is not the unit

User Score: 5.png The software that comes with it is a piece of crap. I got it not working for 6 months. Chat with linksys support for an hour with no answer. I tried everything... always "waiting for host" message. Until I reinstalled XP home SP2, with all updates but without the .NET framework 2.0. Now it's working well.

You want me to WHAT?

Can't get to work!

by Ray on Dec 2nd, 2005 at 5:44 PM:

User Score: 1.png I bought the Linksys wma11b Media Adapter from CompUSA, took it home and set it up. The set went flawlessly but when I tried to use the unit, it would not communicate with my system. I set it up on my Ethernet, disabled the XP Firewall and Anti-Virus - no luck. I didn't get around to trying the wireless. I spent about 3 hours on the phone with Linksys Tech Support and they didn't have any luck helping me out. All I had on the TV screen was "Waiting For Host". Tech Support said it takes some time to connect depending on how many mp3 files I had. I left it for about three hours and I only had about 50 files in it. Anyway, I took it back to CompUSA and they replaced it. Brought it home and set it up. Guess what! No Video. Back it went and I got my money refunded. It looks like a nice handy unit, If it would work.
