Awesome drive

by Gary on Jun 2nd, 2008 at 5:57 PM:

Came with my Dell Dimension 4600 that I got in Feb 2004. As of June 2008, still running strong and silent. Never lost data or a sector and never developed any humms, even temporary. I work it hard, reloading my system at least once a year, fill and empty my hard drive regularly with frequent software changes and testing, intensive gaming, this drive is excellent. Also share it on a home network so it's often being taxed double. I LOVE IT! The only reason I'll ever upgrade is when I need more capacity, and even then, it'll stay on as a slave.

Great drive

Have had this drive in daily use for just under 5 years now. Not 1 single problem in any way. Not even so much as a bad sector. Good seek times (for the age), quiet, and reliable.

Crap drive, crap service

by Slowskate on Jan 31st, 2006 at 1:58 PM:

I purchased 2 of these drives from a big box retailer on 1/3/06, lured by a reasonable price after rebate. One of them died after 28 days of service. The big box retailer will not provide warranty service because the UPC had to be submitted for the rebate, and Seagate says they will only replace my new drive with a refurbished drive, and I have to pay shipping. Never again Seagate. Fool me once....
