Worst laptop ever made
by John on Oct 7th, 2007 at 6:14 PM:
When this model came out, it seemed to be good value for money. It had reasonable features coped with a large 15" screen. However, this is where the good things end. After the warranty expired, everything literally stopped working. The keyboard sometimes would become unresponsive. That would mean I couldn't even login to windows when I wanted to type in the password. The wireless button failed and so did the CDRW.
Did I mention that the 3 fans on this laptop would constantly howl even when the laptop has been switched on for a few minutes? Imagine doing a presentation in a quiet room. All you would hear is the 3 fan jets. Battery life is pathetic. If you manage to get 3 hours off it I would be impressed.
Overall, its a terrible laptop. Build quality is shabby and the cheap ABS plastic used doesn't help even with the weight.
Solution for noisy cooler
by Fabricio Nogueira on Sep 23rd, 2007 at 9:43 PM:
I have this "desktop replacement" for about 4 years, and just a few minutes ago I found a BIOS update which fixes the fan noise. :-P
At this time, the BIOS update files can be found on this page:

Hope that someone find it useful.

Nice for office work, web surfing, photoshop, but not for games (especially shooters) and video editing software for sure. Sure does (or should I say did) have heating problems, but they were gone after me messing with fans (reconnecting them, etc). Works well with right OS config.
