Wins Big!

by Kevin Collier on Dec 18th, 2008 at 11:14 AM:

I've used this device for a Good 3 months and have hardly had any disconnections, yet there are disconnections. I've found it's range and reliability a must at a cheap $30.00. I'd suggest this to anyone who has a need for quick Wi-Fi and Strong support and security.

Broken

Get Disconnected - Two

by John Rudzianski on Feb 13th, 2008 at 9:40 AM:

I have had the DI-624(c) in use for well over a year and a half, and just recently the unit drops my network connections - not my Internet connection, which is running through a Siemens DSL modem. It freaks me out because up until a few days ago I had absolutely no problems at all with my three-desktop, one wireless laptop network.

Got disconnected

by Andrés on Feb 4th, 2008 at 12:01 PM:

I'm using the DI-624+ of a parent. I got disconnected from internet between less than 5 minutes. I need to download a file with some program with resume capability if not I must begin from the principle of download. I cannot use MSN Messenger in any manner. I got disconnected too fast so I lose messages I get bored about repeating what I said.

This frustrating Wi-Fi router is a bad choice. I own a CNet one with a much better and superior quality. Faster and stable than this one. Really, the CNet one kicks this for much. And you know, CNet is not a super Wi-Fi quality professional company, instead it is a medium to good quality. I guessed that D-Link is a super quality professional one, but I was in mistake?

When in doubt, reboot........or just reboot for no reason

by Dan Thompson on Jan 30th, 2008 at 11:13 AM:

From a Wi-Fi standpoint, this router has decent performance. Range is good, speed is good (although wireless 'speed' is still an oxymoron). The rebooting thing, though..... Very annoying! Mine (and many others, judging from forum trolling) has its own mindset and ideas of when it needs to take a quick dive and resurface. Definitely a fault with the router, as I can see it happen. The lights go solid, all wired comps yell "Network Cable unplugged" then all goes dim for a reboot. Thankfully though, it only causes minimal impact, as it comes back up more quickly than any normal apps (Windows file copy, browser requests, POP and SMTP) time-out. I have actually had utorrent running with 150 concurrent connections, while it dropped, and utorrent didn't even blink, just started re-establishing connections. If you just surf, email and download, or have a small home network and want decent wireless performance and range, it may do, depending on the severity of the seemingly common reboots. Gamers, PAY ATTENTION!!! This router is not for you. My DNF % on X-Box live is ridiculous!!! Third Period Boots from NHL08, "You have been signed out of/into Xbox live" popup. Incredibly long sign in times, etc. World of Warcraft seems to ignore the reboot completely, LOTRO does a horrible lockup every reboot (It feels like it's going to recover, than BAM, server disco right when you're believing'). LAN Gaming seems OK, but everyone gets the little freeze at the same time, so we usually just blame the router when anyone manages a headshot or good old' fashioned knifing.

All in all, if you see one at a garage sale for under $10, and can live with it, just ask the guy how often it reboots and start haggling. If you game, beware!!!!!!! Gets a 2, because I'm a Gamer!!!!!
