Bought it in 2003...still kickin'

Great workhorse, bought extra RAM, outlasted my other laptops.

3D modelling such as rhino and IL2 1946 run great. solidworks doesn't like it.

Great sound. Extra bay, placement of audio jack a little odd.

2 years later and still satisfied

It took about 2 months to research this machine and the alternatives, including its other Satellite 5205 brethren, and this provided the best compromise between price and performance. The battery life is great, almost 3 hrs, and adding an extra bay battery makes it 5 hrs. The hard drive is huge for most needs, and the graphics card performs solidly for both work (3D modelling) and games (AvP2 runs great). The SD card reader is very handy. As with my first Toshiba Satellite (a 2595), the 5205-S505 has yet to disappoint me.

Awsome machine for a budget price.

I bought this laptop after months of research.

Pro's:
+ 512 Ram installed
+ 60 gig Harddrive
+ 1400x1050 resolution LCD
+ Awsome sound for a laptop ( harman/kardon + sub)
+ decent battery life 2 hours+
+ extra bay for battery, DVD-R, mem card reader or more.
+ Nice design.

Con's
- No Serial or paralell port
- No Floppy
- Hard to find a case where it fits.
- Placement of audio jacks.
