T-Mobile has struck an innovative, affordable idea with its @Home services, but a couple wrinkles need to be ironed out.
Highs: Seamlessly switches between Wi-Fi and GSM network; relatively affordable
Lows: Only compatible with two very average phones; T-Mobile encourages purchasing/using a proprietary home router for service
VoIP, or Voice over Internet Protocol, has been around for years now, but T-Mobile is quick to say that its T-Mobile @Home service is different. More accurately, T-Mobile @Home is a hybrid of cell phone service and wireless calling. In short, T-Mobile would like to consolidate all your phone use into one phone. “I had a problem with the router they gave me. I didn't have a phone at home as a result for over 2 weeks. I called several times at their technical support and I had to be on-hold for 2-3 hours at a time! I already spent over 30 hours trying to resolve this....” More...
